Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with HK Haibin Education Group Limited China On Monday (18/12/2023). The event took place in the Rektor's Audiensi Room, 3rd floor of the BPA Building at USU.

In attendance from both sides were representatives such as Vice Rectors I and III of USU, the Director of the Directorate of Internationalization and Global Partnership, the Global Partnership Manager, and the Acting Head of the Cooperation Division, along with representatives from HK Haibin, including Hu Haibin B. Eng., MEc., MBA., Ph.D (Chairman), Tania Bakrie, B.Arch., M.M (Chairman Assistant), Verick Tanaka, B.A (Student Coordinator, Medan), Angelica, S.S., B.A. (Translator), and Valencya, S.S., B.A. (Translator).

The collaboration aims to establish academic cooperation and strengthen international programs on campus. Through this agreement, USU has the potential to collaborate with various universities in China. Prof. Dr. Muryanto Amin, M.Si, the Rector of USU, stated, “HK Haibin Education Group Limited China is a primary gateway for USU to collaborate with universities in China.”

As an initial step, several collaboration proposals were put forward, including international staff mobility programs, student exchange programs, the establishment of joint degree programs at the postgraduate level, exploration for faculty members to pursue doctoral education at USU, and the implementation of an international summer course at USU. However, the details of these proposals will be adjusted according to the agreement between USU and Chinese universities.

Prof. Muryanto emphasized that this collaboration is not only intended to enrich academic experiences but also to promote cultural and educational exchanges between China and Indonesia. “This collaboration is expected to support the internationalization process of USU to gain the academic excellence needed to contribute to Indonesia's demographic bonus, advancing towards Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said.
